The Nature Trade-off

Look at those beautiful natural rocks, those trees, they could tell us so much information about this environment. Many of the trees gone, the wildlife put out, they are roaming around and crying at nights. They have been ousted and are unsure where they should migrate to. Everywhere, their lives turned upside down by man.

I went on my morning walk today. I often go alone. I talk to God on these solitary times, since I can no longer do that in the car on my way to work.

By nature I am a solitary creature. I love the companionship of my mind. I have always been very comfortable with myself and I relish that alone time.

Looking around in my budding neighborhood, I am again struck by the things lost to make way for humans.

Look at the beauty here.

Soon new homes, roads, pools, parks … noise.

This is a new phase, less than 2 months ago, there were trees everywhere …

We continue to destroy in the name of building.

I see the beauty here, and I think about how this was once someone’s homestead. Someone’s hopes, their dream of building a life for their family. Now all that remains are the remnants of that fence, now in tatters, being torn down making way for the new.

I ponder how my life, my home, my dreams will someday be torn down as well to make way forΒ  things new.

But it is they way humans do.

  1. Lovely to read your thoughts and see your landscapes, dear Pene. Btw I mentioned you in my own nature walk post yesterday. :)) Thanks for all your encouragement. πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•πŸ‘―β€β™‚οΈπŸ™

  2. Pene, I feel your heart 100% and relate to everything you’ve written. It is tragic what humans have done to the beautiful landscapes our Heavenly Father created with such joy. I understand building and creating places and spaces for us to enjoy. But sadly, what has happened in most of this world is nothing more than abuse. As my brother in law puts it, “Humans are the cancer of the world.” We have destroyed so much unnecessarily. When I walk around and see untouched nature, it takes my breath away and I am so grateful there is still some to enjoy!

Thank you for sharing your part of the world. It’s beautiful and so are you! β™₯

  5. Sighs. I understand your plight on this sis. Phew!.
But I am glad that we get to live our lives as legacies whom others will share about because we made a difference. And this, can’t be wiped off. πŸ™‚πŸ’ƒ
