5 Proven Ways To Lose Weight

So the holidays are over, the New Year, the new decade has begun. We enjoyed the festivities and the food and then some.

But in the wake of all that celebration, a few / many extra pounds have stuck around like an obnoxious uninvited guest.

Weight loss can be challenging in many ways but when you are older, female, peri-menopausing (not quite a word, but I will use it anyway) and busy with limited time, weight loss can be a depressing uphill battle.

5 Ways That Gets Results

  • A system cleanse
  • Clean eating
  • Hydration
  • Exercise
  • Perseverance

My son bought me the RenewLife Total Body Cleanse perhaps because he was tired of me harping on the fact that I felt like a puffer fish. See pic below.

This is me the past 6 months.

The RenewLife Total Body cleanse 14-day program. (I am not an affiliate marketer, my son randomly gave this to me)

So I have devised a plan to aid my weight loss journey. Here’s hoping it may help someone else.

30-Day Clean Eating

  • Day 1 – begin by drinking the juice of half a lemon in 1 cup of warm water.
  • Hydration, hydration, hydration; Mayo Clinic recommends approx. 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids for men and 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids a day for women
  • Fruits for breakfast, maintain hydration.
  • Fruits / healthy nuts for snacks
  • Salad for lunch, using no or low fat dressing, eg. Kraft brands.
  • Maintain hydration.
  • Dinner consists of greens as well, you can have some brown rice, grilled / steamed fish, chicken or boiled eggs.
  • NO fried foods.
  • No juice, sodas, sugar products.

The above picture continues shows the products I am currently using.

  • First I use the warm water and lemon.
  • 2 capsules with at least 8 ounces of water at night.
  • The hydration process after the lemon and warm water. I love coffee, so I drink with 2 packets of splenda (artificial sweetener) = zero calories.

Lunch Eats

Dinner Eats

By dinner time, I am usually FAMISHED… and was ready to eat one of my kids, but this is what I ate instead.

My friend who got me started on this journey suggested I eat fruits or drink a smoothie on the way home. So I will begin that today.

My mom cooked, by this time my brain needed the glucose

Results … A Fluid & Ongoing Process

By day 4 the gnawing hunger had begun to subside to a more tolerable level as the body came to some degree of homeostasis and begun pulling glucose from the liver.

By the 6th day I felt less like a puffer fish. My pants were looser.

And Lo and behold I lost some weight. I weighed and had a deficit of 5 lbs.

I had never carried around this much weight and my hips had begun crying for some relief.

I will be incorporating exercise on my treadmill, but for now will continue the cleansing and clean-eating process.

How are you all doing 7 days into our new decade? Anyone else out there fighting the “battle of the pounds”? What is working or have worked for you in the past to lose weight?
