COVID-19: To A City Near Me!

As of yesterday, there have been six (6) confirmed cases of COVID-19 in my immediate area in Dallas. I do not want to beat a dead horse as I see many daily postings on the virus. But since COVID-19 has decided to visit a city near me, I thought it prudent to make mention.

What you need to know; https://wordpress.com/post/justpene.com/2206

At mine and many other healthcare facilities, N-95 masks are becoming scarce, there have been reports of N-95 mask thefts at several such facilities as folks are running scared.

What To Do Now

Remain vigilant, disinfect busy surfaces in your surroundings often, door handles, toilets, counter surfaces, etc.

  • If possible carry hand sanitizer and use often, rub hands until dry
  • Avoid crowds and public spaces as you are able
  • Wear a mask if you are sick or in public if at all possible
  • Stay at least 6 feet from strangers and ill persons.
  • Do NOT SHAKE HANDS
  • Wash hands often with soap and warm water for 20 seconds (sing the happy birthday song as a timer)
  • Cover your cough and sneeze
  • In the short-term avoid persons with travel to the “hot spots”, see link here; https://wordpress.com/post/justpene.com/2270

Epidemiologists indicate that the virus has a long incubation and infection period when compared to the influenza. COVID-19 also appears to spread easier that the common flu, and with the CDC changing its algorithm by the hour, it would stand to reason that they themselves have no real data on this virus.

How to Sanitize Your Spaces

  • Mix 5 tablespoons (1/3rd cup) bleach per one gallon of water. (Do not mix bleach with ammonia or other household cleaners).
  • Use a well-ventilated room
  • Use approved cleaners as recommended, see link below.

Symptoms appear to be similar to the flu, with fever>102, a cough and lower respiratory presentation.

If you are older >65 years, very young or have severe underlying chronic medical conditions; heart disease, lung/respiratory disease, diabetes or any other chronic illness, you may be at higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19.

Visit the EPA’s link for more approved cleaning products; https://www.epa.gov/sites/production/files/2020-03/documents/sars-cov-2-list_03-03-2020.pdf

The CDC expects more cases to be identified in the U.S. with more widespread testing and increased numbers of person-to-person transfers.

No need to panic, just apply common sense practical caution.

Again be vigilant, pray and stay well.

Daylight Savings Time

Startled awake by my alarm. I reluctantly attempt to disentangle myself from the murky depths far beyond wakefulness.

Through sleep-glazed eyes I hit what I hope is the snooze button on my phone, could be the home button, I do not care. Anything just makes this screeching stop!

Sigh!

I blissfully returned to the depths from which I briefly emerged.

Ah, blessed rest.

The screeching again disturbs the serenity of my resting space and again I battle the murky gloom.

Squinting attempting to see.

The time reads 05:20 AM … I groan ever so deeply in my soul, dear God why…I should be born rich … why am I not rich?

I throw the covers off and, my day begins.

Daylight Savings Time, I have never understood it’s relevance in my life. I know it’s historical significance, but does it really still apply? Still necessary?

If this is truly Daylight Saving … why have I lost my time?

Tomorrow will be better, I think. The body will soon be adjusted and the difference I will notice no longer.

But, just for today…Daylight Savings time has left me bereft!

How do you cope with the time changes?

Season’s Change

Yesterday I was pleasantly surprised to note on my drive to work that the world had gotten lighter while I was busy.

Suddenly it’s so bright. This change where the light surreptitiously banishes the darkness and suddenly… behold the light!

Spring, a time of renewal, growth and good and pleasant changes…

Enough of this cold, I am ready for some sunshine though I will undoubtedly complain later about being too hot.

Humans, can’t please us for long.

Thank you Lord I am here in my right mind to enjoy your creations.

The Way We Write

Somedays I get many writing ideas, other times not one!

Often in dreams and sometimes while awake. Upon awakening, if I do not write the ideas down quickly I forget.

Other days I must get up to go to work or begin my day and really have no time for the idea at all, so the thought is simply left in yesterday, forgotten.

If time and space permits, I am obedient and answer the call.

When I operate in obedience the post almost writes itself. I do it fluidly, quickly and efficiently.

Sometimes, when I do not take heed to the prompting, it will not leave me alone. It will stay and whisper in my ear until from sheer aggravation, I acquiesce.

So my friends, my question to you is…how do your ideas come?

And what steps do you take if you are not in a position to record it?

Imagine…

To my friends in blogworld out there. As I sit here, on WordPress of course…where else would I be? The best thought fluttered into my mind.

Imagine that we have a reunion in Heaven some day with all our brothers and sisters out there in blog land. We interact with each other daily knowing we most likely will never meet in the flesh.

But imagine we get to greet each other in heaven…how wonderful would that be?

“Hello I am “blog name here”, and we hear words like, “I was so inspired by what you wrote on these specific days that it kept me going when I was ready to give up”

Lovely thought.
