Social Distancing – What Have We Learned?

Hello my friends. I am so blessed to have you all in my life. You have no idea how my interactions with you help me in light of our present circumstances.

Being able to interact with you out here soothes and provides a haven for the soul.

For the past several days I have awakened very early in the morning with my mind filled with what-ifs and worry … I usually shake it off, but the accuser stalks us when we are often vulnerable … during sleep.

For the past several years I had been working almost ceaselessly. As I got older I realized the need to make better money choices.

Getting deeper in real estate both in the USA as well as South America required a lot of cash.

I also began investing in livestock as a means to secure my older years.

Last month I made the decision to part ways with my 2nd full-time job so COVID-19 came along just as I was pondering the decision to allow for some “down time”.

What I have gained from social distancing so far:

  • A renewed relationship with the family.
  • More “me time”
  • Time to indulge my love of reading.
  • Time for exercise.
  • Going for walks with family.
  • Time for introspection.
  • I have a lot more energy.
  • The kids say I am way more fun.

Things Money cannot buy:

  • Health
  • Peace
  • Love
  • Life
  • Morals
  • Integrity
  • Dignity
  • Respect
  • Parents
  • Kindness

What I am Thankful For:

  • Jesus
  • Family
  • Good friends
  • WordPress family
  • Health
  • My Snookums, always willing to help and walk with me

My list just keeps on growing, all the things I was unaware of a lack.

What have you learned from our recent events? What are you grateful for?

  1. Thank you for your post today. I like how you shared while planning for the future is essential that is need be balanced with living today.
You will never regret the memories you share with your family. My wife said yesterday that she misses those days, our children seemed to grow up too early.

  2. Pene’, I agree. It has been restorative to just go through the day observing and giving thanks, well, for everything. I have been using this time to study, pray, rest, spend more down time with my hubs, and sweet chats with family and friends. I am blessed by your willingness to recognize what’s best for you and your family, and act on it. May God continue to bless and uphold you and your family in His loving watch-care. ♥

    1. Thank you always for being a wonderful source of hope and inspiration. I continue to press towards the mark…continue to be safe with your family.

  3. Hello! I am learning life goes on and we need to take the time and opportunity to look for ways to help others from where we are to where they are! God bless you, Pene!

  4. I like your post today! I agree. It certainly helps us not take the little things for granted. I am grateful to be able to work from home, for daylight morning runs (I usually run in the dark), for conversations with my son, zooming with friends, reading fellow bloggers, online worship…!!

    1. Ok my friend I will have to make some time. Picking up extra shifts at work. Lots of deaths with older relatives of our employees.
      Am at work tonite.
      Stay safe.

    1. Oh my, congratulations on the new family member, may God watch over and bless him all the days of his life. And may you be able to snuggle him real soon!!

  5. What we’ve noticed so far is that the surroundings are much cleaner. However, I’ve learnt not to lose hope, and to stay strong; and I’m grateful for my health as well. Hope you stay safe🤗
